Metapack has released new research on how delivery choice and quality- including an excellent return policy- are large influencers of online consumers' buying decision.

Delivery is a crucial point in the customer journey. A positive delivery experience can help retailers to stand out from their competition, increase conversion and boost consumer loyalty, finds Metapack in their latest research on delivery choices and consumer preferences.

Choice is king

Metapack surveryed 3000 consumers across the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, France and Germany. The figures say it all: 66 percent of shoppers switched to another vendor who offered better delivery options, 49 percent is willing to pay more for more convenient options.

Returns make or break conversion

The return policy is crucial: 76 percent of all surveyed buyers stated that they study the return policy before completing the order. 51 percent did not shop with a retailer with an unfavorable return policy, whereas 71 percent would buy more with a seller that made returns easier.

Price is an important factor

Too high delivery prices kept over half of consumers form buying with certain sites, whereas also speed, choice and a guaranteed delivery date were determining factors when it came to customers not completing their online order. The infographic compiled by Metapack illustrates the findings of the report.
