Lots of online food retailers experience the challenge of keeping food products chilled or frozen. The solu tions are often either expensive or not sustainable, which does not comply with today’s standards. The food market has been catching up with fast growing markets such as clothing, and is increasing faster than ever. Finding solutions to conquer this challenge is therefore crucial. According to Dan Roumen, Product Manager Thermal Packaging at Ranpak, paper is a recyclable and sustainable product which could hypothetically be used as insulation.

Most well-known solutions (EPS boxes for example), are far from environmental friendly. Lots of variables need to be taken into account when looking for a solution, such as temperature profiles, transport, storage and insulating materials. Ranpak’s research shows that paper is a great cost-reducing alternative, as it is not only biodegradable but also easily adaptable to any size.
