The website Ikgastarten.nl recently published an interview with Thomas Deters, founder of Azalp.nl, a company that has been internationalized together with Salesupply.

What is it that many webshops are all about? Price, price, price, price, price. Thomas Deters abhors this ‘EAN code show’, as he calls the trend where everyone sells the same products for the lowest possible price, he says in an interview with the website Ikgastarten.nl, an initiative of Rabobank.

That was not the path Thomas wanted to take with his company Azalp (the reverse of Plaza). For that reason, the entrepreneur sells unique products and brands as much as possible, which not only sets him apart, but also allows him to achieve higher margins.

After a successful start in the Netherlands, Azalp expanded into Europe. Deters talks about the experiences and learning moments of the young company: “As a young entrepreneur, you think: Germany, here I come! A country with enormous potential, but also a big bowl of dangers. If there are things that are not correct in your general terms and conditions, a German can send you an Abmahnung – a letter of formal notice – and you can immediately pay a settlement. You would get these letters from your competitors all the time. Suddenly, you would be five or six hundred euros poorer.”

Yet his conclusion is: “(…) If you think too long, you are often too late. You look for the ideal picture, but it doesn’t exist. Just go for it.

Salesupply is a partner of Azalp in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. We are proud of the success of this innovative and beautiful company!
